Timeline: Insight to Impact

Summary timeline showing three phases: Building a Vision (2010–2015), Developing Methods and Metrics (2015–2025), and Global Mainstreaming (2025–2030)

(Phase 1) Building a Vision

2010 – 2015

I built consensus around agriculture–nutrition linkages through collaborative processes to shape common understanding and practical application.

2010 — Co-founded Ag2Nut, a network to facilitate global discussions on agriculture-nutrition linkages.2013 — Synthesized the Key Recommendations on Improving Nutrition through Agriculture and Food Systems, adopted by FAO.2015 — Published a vision for monitoring the Cost of a Healthy Diet and a set of diet indicators.

(Phase 2) Developing the Methods and Metrics

2015 – 2025

I launched two decade-long projects to develop scalable methods and metrics for monitoring diet quality and access to healthy diets.

2015 — Launched the Food Prices for Nutrition project and developed the Cost and Affordability of a Healthy Diet (CoAHD).2016 — Launched the Global Diet Quality Project to provide a valid, feasible way to measure and monitor global diets.2019 — Contributed to the global Food Systems Dashboard and the Food Systems Countdown Initiative.

(Phase 3) Global Mainstreaming

2025 – 2030

I am scaling up the implementation of new methods and metrics, helping embed them in policymaking, and elevating edible biodiversity to address gaps in food access and diets.

2026 — Working with FAO to build national capacity to monitor the Cost and Affordability of a Healthy Diet.2026 — Working with WHO to support the use of diet data for design and impact of healthy diet policies.2025 — Continuing the work of the Global Diet Quality Project to build national capacity for implementing the DQQ.2026 — Launching the World Food Map of edible biodiversity.
